Dr.Krishna was a First Cowboy, James Bond of Telugu film Industry who held the reigns of Actor, Director and Producer Registering his own banner Padmalaya Studios and churning many successful films.
350 Films under his belt with 80% Success rate, Krishna was awarded a honorary doctorate by Andhra University in 2008 and received Padmabhushan in 2009 by Government in India . In 1997 he was conferred Life time Achievement award (South) for his contribution to Cinema .
Dr.Krishna was first to bring Eastman Colour to Telugu Screen with Mosagaluku Mosagadu in 1971, the First CinemaScope film Alluri Sitaramaraju in 1974 which was a run away Success for the super star, the film made on biopic of a Revolutionary Tribal leader Alluri Sitaramraju who took on British Single handedly. In 1986 came up with first 70mm film Simhasanam which was a huge success. Krishna was also pressurized in dropping his dream Project #AlluriSitaramaraju by few well known film fraternities, but the actor never cared and moved forward and create a sensation in the Industry with Acclaims and awards pouring in locally and globally.
Krishna is the first and only Telugu actor who acted in Mythological, Drama Folklore, Cowboy, James Bond, Historical films with thumping Success.
Super Star Dr.Krishna starred in the Telugu spy film sequels Gudachari 116 (1966), James Bond 777 (1971), Agent Gopi (1978), Rahasya Gudachari (1981) and Gudachari 117 (1989) which were well received by audience. Dr.Krishna directed Shankharavam(1987), Mugguru Kodukulu (1988), Koduku Diddina Kapuram (1989), Bala Chandrudu (1990) and Anna Thammudu (1990), casting his son Mahesh Babu in pivotal roles. Krishna directed 17 feature films and he produced various films under Padmalaya Film Studio, a production house owned by him.
None knew that Dr.Krishnagaru also had a noble shades of helping producers short of Money, instead encouraged them. Joined Politics and was elected as MP in 1989 but couldn't live up to his and peoples expectations due to monopoly of the States Ruling Party.
But Natashekhara Dr Krishna continued his Stint in films by continuing his Successful tenure , and worked until he bid good bye to films due to Present Genre of films affecting his Style.
