Vicky Kaushal Instrumental in Sunny-Taapsee Pannu’s Friendship? He Calls Her ‘Real-Life Sigma’ .

Three years after Haseen Dillruba was released, taapsee pannu and vikrant massey are back with their sequel, and Sunny Kaushal is joining them on this ride. Titled Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba, the love triangle is set against the backdrop of hindi pulp fiction and is set for a premiere on Netflix on august 9. The trailer gives a sneak peek into the lives of rani and Rishu as they attempt to leave their troubled past behind only to find themselves ensnared in a web of new challenges with the arrival of Abhimanyu.

In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Sunny quips that being a new entrant, he was tormented by co-stars Taapsee and Vikrant. “Itna bully kiya ki main kya bataau! Inke khoon bhare kapde hote the, mujhe dhona padhta tha (laughs). But on a serious note, they were the sweetest. Everybody was welcoming. It was a lot of fun working with lovely people like Taapsee, Vikrant, jimmy (Sheirgill) sir, Jayprad (Desai; director) and Kanika (Dhillon; writer)," he says.

While Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba may be the first time Sunny shares screen space with Taapsee, their friendship goes back to many years and his brother vicky kaushal seems to have played a role in that. “I knew her before because I had met her during Manmarziyaan. She hosted a lovely housewarming party at that time. I don’t know why she invited me but I was there. Mujhe aaj tak pata nahi ki usne mujhe kyun bulaaya. Maybe because I was a plus one to Vicky (laughs). I’m just kidding! She did invite me and sent me a message about it. It was very sweet of her," recalls Sunny.

But has his equation changed with her now that they’ve worked on a film together? “There’s a big difference. I knew her before a certain way and that changed after we started working. I got to know her much better and much more once we began working. Meri izzat bahot badh gayi hai Taapsee ke liye (laughs). Sorry for these jokes!" shares the Shiddat and Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga actor.

Lauding the Thappad and Dunki actor, Sunny shares that her character rani in Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is an extension of who she’s in real life. But he quickly makes it clear that Haseen Dillbura or its characters don’t glorify domestic violence and toxic relationships. “Instead of ‘papa papa’, she goes ‘Rishu Rishu’ (laughs)! But I think rani is a sigma and not an alpha. Sigmas are above alphas. They’re like lone wolves. They’re unapologetic but self-aware at the same time. And Taapsee’s a sigma in real life too," he says.
