The Lost City squandered the chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Brad Pitt, but the upcoming action comedy Bullet train more than makes up for it. The Lost City was a wonderful blend of action, humour, and romance that paired Channing Tatum's dimwitted but well-intentioned sexy cover model with Sandra Bullock's troubled romance author. The critically acclaimed and popular romantic comedy saw Tatum as Dash trying to free Bullock's Loretta from an insane millionaire holding her hostage on a remote island in order to unearth the film's title archaeological find.

But because of the nature of its idea, the potential film adaptation of The Lost City did waste one of the best aspects of the original. Brad Pitt made an early appearance in The Lost City as an exaggerated caricature of the actor's prior action hero roles, repeating his successful Once Upon A Time In hollywood ploy. Bullock's role in the upcoming action-comedy Bullet train will help to make up for this role's apparent waste of their on-screen chemistry.

Pitt and Bullock's chemistry fizzled out in The Lost City because Pitt's character was abruptly (apparently) murdered off and the plot of the film revolved around her meeting Tatum's Dash. Bullock and Pitt's excellent chemistry had to be wasted in The Lost City because Brad Pitt's role served primarily as a counterbalance to the good-hearted but incompetent Dash. It was a good joke that Brad Pitt's role in The Lost City was cut short, but the twist left viewers wondering why the two seasoned actors had never worked together before. Bullock may remedy this by playing Pitt's troubled assassin's handler in Bullet Train.
