Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., a part of the USD 16.9 billion Mahindra Group, recently concluded India’s first all-electric car expedition christened the ‘Mahindra RevaGoodness Drive – Kashmir to Kanyakumari’. Pitched as a drive for a better tomorrow, the Mahindra e2os passed through some of the most beautiful locales in the country, includingchanging landscapes and varied terrains. From lush green meadows and barren landscapes to the most treacherous terrain, the Mahindra e2os covered it all with equal ease.
Starting from the picturesque landscapes and mountainous terrain of Kashmir, the expedition ready Mahindra e2os drove toward the capital city of Delhi and onward to Udaipur the city of lakes and palaces, and then to the dynastic city of Hyderabad finally ending up in Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the country. Along the way, the convoy witnessedchanges in terrain, air, vegetation and people. The drive was run to the highest standards with well-planned halts at regular intervals.

Most importantly it propagated a zero emission, zero fuel drive in addition to showcasingthe full potential of a connected car, thereby dispelling all myths related to range anxiety.
This was the right opportunity for the company to demonstrate the many aspects of the car - its ability to traverse toughand difficult terrain, accelerate instantly, its small turning radiusand the convenience of clutch free driving.

About Mahindra e2o
Convenient for congested city traffic
Powered by next generation lithium–ion batteries and a 3 phase induction electric motor; the Mahindra e2o is designed for city driving. It is clutch free which means no constant changing of gears in bumper-to-bumper traffic. With a small turning radius of 3.9 m, it makes every turn a delight. Its unique hill-hold feature frees you of any anxiety when driving up inclines. Special ABS body panels make it dent and scratch resistant. All of this is coupled with enough interior space to accommodate four adults and a driving range of 120 kms per charge which is enough to satisfy the needs of the most discerning customer.
Safety ensured
The e2o has been designed to meet European safety norms which are far more stringent than the current norms in India. As a result, the e2o is one of the safest hatchback cars on Indian roads today. Several design elements enhance safety during high speed crashes as well as low speed brushes and scrapes. The e2o is designed around a unique high strength, steel space frame that ensures complete safety
The three crumple zones with six energy absorption structures in the front are designed to absorb the impact of frontal crashes while dual side impact beams increase protection in the case of side impact. This space frame is cladded with dent proof and scratch resistant ABS panels. In the event of a ‘gentle nudge’ with another car or object, the panels do not deform. Any scratch can be buffed off since the entire panel is of the same color, through and through – saving precious money on repairs as well. Inside the car, we have provided adjustable headrests on all seats and ISOFIX child seat mounts with ALR rear seat belts for added child safety.
Power in the Palm of Your Hand
The connected car technology of the Mahindra e2o is a unique synthesis of energy, mobility and connectivity and it has multiple industry leading firsts to its credit. The entire genesis of this is the control interface for the vehicle which can be made available on any smart phone device by merely downloading an application. The application then gives the customer the power to remotely manage several functions of the Mahindra e2o.
For example, the smart phone application can help lock the car by simply sending it a lock command and activate the car’s air-conditioning remotely. The trip planner in the application integrates the ‘distance to empty’ information from the Mahindra e2ointo the maps and helps plan each journey with the current charge.
Have a conversation with your Mahindra e2o…..
With 10 on-board computers, the Mahindra e2oprovides real time feedback of all the vehicle’s functions, does a daily heart beat check of the vital systems and sends alerts if anything has to be fixed, corrected or attended to.
Apart from telling you that your Mahindra e2o is locked or that the cabin is at a pre-set temperature with the air conditioning turned on, the Mahindra e2o is also capable of telling you that you have forgotten to switch on the mains to charge the car, in spite of plugging it in. Furthermore, this intelligent EV is capable of monitoring how efficiently you drive and can even provide details of your drive efficiency over the past six days in graphical form. The Mahindra e2o congratulates you when you achieve 100% driving efficiency and also gives you tips on improving energy efficiency.
Charging made easy and no more anxiety
Customers can now literally plug in their Mahindra e2o to charge, just the way they do for their cell phones, laptops or tablets, as the Mahindra e2o can charge from any15A, 220V power socket available in any home. With just 5 hours required for fully charging your Mahindra e2o – your trusted car will be ready to be driven for 120 kms, more than enough for the average daily commute.
With the patented REVive® technology there is no more range anxiety. In the rare event of your car running low on charge, you can use the app on the smart phone or activate it through your in-car infotainment system to remotely activate the reserve energy that can get you going again to the nearest charging station.
Feature rich yet energy efficient
The Mahindra e2o comes with a 15.5 cms (6.2 in.) touch screen, with factory fitted GPS navigation system, radio, DVD, Bluetooth and i-Pod connectivity.Locating a place or directions to the nearest charging point is now at your fingertips.
The fully digital cluster, electrically operated wing mirrors, keyless entry and start/ stop button, projector head lamps, LED tail lamps, reverse camera, 4 JBL speakers and 2 tweeters makes the features of the Mahindra e2o comparable to most high end cars.
The regenerative braking feature in the Mahindra e2o also pumps energy back into the car’s batteries and charges them every time the car slows down or on application of brakes.
Clean and green
Mahindra Reva has also worked hard to create a sustainable technology ecosystem for EVs, proof of which is the host of technologies created by the company, inspired directly by its vision of the future of mobility. The ‘Sun2Car’ technology, which has been developed through the creation of personal solar charging units, provides the user with sufficient energy to power an EV for life, making it a very cost-effective mobility solution. – imagine free energy for life!
