Chennai sources have stated that Renault-Nissan Automotive India, which runs a factory in Tamil Nadu automotive production hub of Oragadam, has said it will cut the number of shifts at the plant from three to two, and reduce headcount by firing temporary workers. The permanent ones will be re-purposed toward other operations in the plant. The company refused to elaborate on how many temporary workers could be disengaged. This change will take place by the second week of December.
