First launched two decades ago in september 2000 the maruti Suzuki Alto took only four years to climb the popularity chart all the way to the numero uno position. And it liked that spot so much, it hasn't conceded the spot since then. Clearly, india liked it right back, buying the car in such huge numbers that helped ensure that this affordable offering from the country's largest carmaker remained the best-selling car for the last 16 consecutive years.

It may be worth noting that Alto was one of the first maruti Suzuki cars to achieve BS6-compliant status. Along with the last engine upgrade, the car also design and feature updates, including SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, etc. This has helped ensure that the car continues to offer ace value for money through the years.
