A draught notification of 2022 regulations for personal automobiles with foreign country registration numbers has been issued by the Federal Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. press Release from the Government: These rules govern the operation of personal automobiles registered in India's other countries. To drive a foreign-registered vehicle in india, you'll need the following documentation.

> Valid Registration Certificate 
> Valid Driver's License or international Driver's License (if applicable) 
> Valid Insurance Policy 
> Valid pollution Control Certificate (if applicable to the country of manufacture of the vehicle)

If any of the aforementioned papers are not written in english, the official english translation should be retained with the originals.

Local passengers would not be allowed to load freight within indian territory, even if the vehicles are registered in a nation other than India. The provisions of Section 118 of the indian Motor vehicles Act 1988 will apply to vehicles registered in countries other than India.


The Centre has released a draught regulation for inter-country movement of non-transport vehicles to formalise and better regulate the movement of foreign private vehicles in India. Foreign automobiles entering or plying in india will be required to hold a valid registration certificate, driving licence or international driving permit, and insurance policy, according to the draught "Inter-Country Non-Transport (personal) Vehicle Rules, 2022" released on Wednesday. They'd have to hold a pollution-control certificate as well.
