Maruti Jimny 5-Door Export Started
Maruti Suzuki has started exporting its popular off-roader SUV Jimny 5-Door to several international markets including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. The company manufactures this 5-door off-roader only in india for the domestic and international markets. This SUV was introduced at the auto Expo 2023 and is currently being sold in the indian market. In november 2020, maruti Suzuki started production of the 3-door Jimny specifically for export to Latin America and African countries. maruti Suzuki launched Jimny 5-door in the indian market in june 2023.
Powertrain
Based on a strong ladder-frame chassis, the maruti Jimny 5-door is equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, which generates 103bhp power and 138Nm torque. Its transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic.
1 lakh units will be manufactured every year
Maruti Suzuki aims to produce one lakh units of this SUV per year, in which about 66 percent of the total production will be made for the domestic market and the remaining for exports. maruti Suzuki is currently selling around 3,000 units of Jimny in the country every month. The SUV is sold through the Nexa dealership network. According to media reports, the 5-door Suzuki Jimny will also be showcased at the japan Mobility Show on october 26, 2023.
Will not be sold in Europe
The 5-door maruti Jimny will not be offered in the european markets due to stricter emission norms, as the existing 1.5L K15B engine does not conform to the emission norms there. This engine is not available with mild hybrid technology.
Launched in the South African market
Suzuki recently launched the made-in-India Jimny in the South African market, which looks quite similar to the India-spec model. However, the African model has some new color options which are not available in our market. It has a new green paint scheme, similar to the color introduced on indian Army vehicles.
