Upcoming Tata MPV: Tata Motors is preparing to enter the MPV segment, and may compete with toyota Innova

Tata Motors is continuously playing new bets in the automobile industry. The company has recently updated its four popular SUVs – Nexon, Nexon EV, Harrier, and Safari. Apart from this, the company has confirmed its plans to introduce the Curve Coupe SUV in early 2024. Initially, this model will be launched with an electric powertrain, after which its ICE model will be launched. After this, Tata has set a target of launching the Tata Sierra SUV in 2025. Like the Curve, and the Sierra.EV will be the first to hit the market, followed by its ICE model.


The company is preparing MPV

Tata Motors Managing director Shailesh Chandra has also revealed the company's intention to enter segments that are not currently included in its product portfolio. Without giving much detail about this upcoming model, it is being speculated to be an MPV. Currently, there are options like the maruti Suzuki Ertiga, toyota Rumion, Kia Carens, and mahindra Marazzo in the compact MPV segment. Apart from this, models like maruti Suzuki Invicto, Toyota's Innova Crysta, and Innova Highcross are also included in this segment. After this, vehicles like toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival are present in the luxury MPV segment.

Will be based on the OMEGARC platform

In terms of price, if Tata brings an MPV to the market, then it can compete with cars like maruti Suzuki Ertiga and toyota Innova. It can be offered to meet the needs of both private buyers and fleets. Not much information is available at this time. However, it is expected that the new Tata MPV will be built on the OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture) platform. This monocoque architecture is known for its adaptive torsion and bending toughness. 


Tata claims that the OMEG platform has assisted isolation panels to effectively manage noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels. Additionally, the advanced automatic manufacturing line ensures robust quality and reliability, and the platform constructed from high-quality steel features optimally designed crumple zones.
