Mahindra will launch the XUV300 facelift in the first quarter of 2024. Talking about Thar 5-door, it is expected to arrive in the indian market by mid-2024.

Upcoming mahindra Thar 5-Door

Mahindra is expected to introduce the rear-wheel-drive version of the Thar 3-door lifestyle SUV in early 2023. The company has been testing mahindra Thar 5-door for the last few years and now it is about to hit the market. Let us know today about 10 special things about this SUV.

Dual-tone interior

Mahindra Thar 5-door lifestyle SUV will come with the same dashboard layout as the 3-door model. It will have round-shaped air-con vents, a grab handle, and a metal badge plate below the left air-con vent. Instead of the all-black color scheme in the 3-door Thar, the mahindra Thar 5-door will come with a dual-tone brown and black color scheme. The same paint scheme is also expected to be found on various parts of the cabin including seat upholstery and door panels.

Large touchscreen infotainment system

The 3-door model is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The 5-door model is expected to get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with a better user interface. This infotainment unit will support Android auto and apple CarPlay and navigation.

Hard roof

The current Thar 3-door comes with 2 roof options; A fibre-glass hard top and a canvas soft top. Both lack a roof liner. The Thar 5-door will come with a metal roof with a soft fabric roof liner.

Single-pane sunroof

The Thar 5-door will get the popular single-pane sunroof along with a soft fabric roof liner. Apart from this, the company can also offer accessories like luggage racks and roof-mounted bicycle racks.

You may get a different name

Ahead of the official launch, mahindra has trademarked seven different names for the Thar 5-door. The company has trademarked Thar Armada, Centurion, Savana, Gladius, Cult, Rocks, and Rex. It is expected that mahindra may choose the name Armada for it.

Long wheelbase

The dimensions of the Thar 5-door will be larger than the 3-door model. This off-roader will be more practical because it will have 5-doors. Its wheelbase has been extended by 300 mm to allow for larger rear doors and larger boot space.

Different suspension setup

The 3-door version comes with an independent double-wishbone front suspension with coil-over dampers at the front and a multilink solid rear axle with coil-over dampers at the rear. This suspension setup gives better off-road capability. For better stability, Thar 5-door is likely to get Scorpio N's penta-link suspension.

More powerful engine

Scorpio-N engine options can also be found in Thar 5-door. It will have 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines, which will generate power of 200bhp with 370Nm/380Nm and 172bhp with 370Nm/400Nm respectively. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. This lifestyle off-road SUV is expected to come with 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain options.

Design update

The Thar 5-door lifestyle SUV will come with some styling changes and more improved interiors. While the Thar 3-door has a simple 6-slat grille, the Thar 5-door is likely to get a 6-slat grille. It includes an LED lighting system with LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, and LED tail lamps. The SUV will come with brand-new 18-inch alloy wheels.
