India’s Shortest Expressway Unveils Largest Toll Plaza with 34 Booths!

India's road network is renowned for its vast highways and expressways, but the Dwarka Expressway stands out for its unique features. Known as the country’s shortest expressway, the Dwarka Expressway also boasts the largest toll plaza, making it a notable landmark.

This 16-lane expressway spans 29 km, with 18.9 km running through Gurugram and 10.1 km through Delhi. As India's first urban and elevated expressway, it offers a smooth ride above ground similar to a flyover. The construction of this ambitious project cost over Rs 9,000 crores, featuring a 23 km elevated section and a 4 km underground stretch.

A particularly intriguing aspect of the Dwarka Expressway is its four-level structure at certain points. This Multi-Utility Corridor includes an underpass at the base, a service lane above it, a flyover, and the expressway itself at the top.

The expressway is distinguished by its extensive toll plaza, which houses 34 toll booths—more than any other expressway in India. The toll rates are Rs 105 for a one-way trip for cars, jeeps, and vans, and Rs 155 for a round trip. For buses and trucks, the one-way toll is Rs 355, and Rs 535 for a round trip.
