This Chinese electric car gets charged in 5 minutes!

The world's largest electric vehicle manufacturing company BYD is going to build its production facility unit in Rangareddy, Telangana, about 60 km from Hyderabad. Meanwhile, BYD announced a new charging platform on Monday. It has been claimed about this charging platform that the battery will be fully charged in the same time as filling petrol in the car. Or it will take only 5 minutes to charge it.

Electric cars are selling less in India

This is such a revolutionary step, which will change the future of electric vehicles in the coming time. Electric vehicles have not become so popular in india yet because their charging takes a lot of time. According to a report by business Standard, electric vehicle sales in india declined by 1.9 percent year-on-year in february and only 139,025 units were sold, with a decline of 18.2 percent month-on-month.

Confusion over charging speed

Currently, it takes 30 minutes to 8-12 hours to charge an electric car, depending on the capacity of the charging station. In such a situation, BYD's five-minute charging feature will prove to be a game changer for indian users. BYD's new Super E platform has the ability to provide ultra-high fast charging speeds of up to 1,000 kW. Its benefits can be taken advantage of in China, but there is no facility of such fast charging speed in India.

It takes overnight to get fully charged

EV charging stations in india can provide speeds up to 7kW. To fully charge the battery, it needs to be kept on charging overnight. Users can also use public DC fast chargers, but even these are not very fast. Public DC fast chargers in india are based on 3-phase AC input and their charging output ranges from 50kW to 120kW. Even at this speed, it will take 2-3 hours to charge the EV, which also depends largely on the car's battery. Some indian cars do not support fast charging more than 50/70kV. Considering this, BYD's claim of charging an EV in five minutes is not going to do much wonders in India.
