Facial treatments can leave you glowing, but they often lead to acne breakouts and pimples on your face too. When your aesthetician works on your skin, he or she opens up the pores by removing the sebum. Though sebum is expressed on the surface of the skin, it may cause a lot of skin problems if it is not cleared periodically. On the other hand, an overzealous aesthetician may end up over exfoliating your skin and causing damage too. It is not clear whether the problems after a facial are caused due to the facial itself or the person who is performing it. Fortunately, there are some simple ways in which you can enhance your overall experience of getting a facial and can make the most of the facial itself. Here’s what you can do:
Keep your skin warm after getting a facial, but do not venture out in the sun. Keep yourself in a shaded room with ambient temperature. This will help your skin regain its balance. This will also help your skin completely absorb the benefits of the facial and become better.
Do not touch your face or rub your fingers against the skin. Your skin is still tender and the pores are still recuperating. Rubbing your face will only cause blemishes and redden the skin, thus completely reversing the effects of your facial.
After the facial, avoid scrubbing, washing or moisturizing your face. Give your skin a break and let it be. If you feel irritation, just dab at your face with a soft cotton ball soaked in cold water. Ideally, you should not touch your face for at least two hours after the facial, even if your skin feel soilyor dry. Avoid bleaching, plucking eyebrows or going out in the sun after a facial. Chemicals may irritate the already tender skin. Plucking or threading may cut the tender skin and cause bleeding. If you let the skin relax for some time, it will freshen and soften your skin. It will also help your skin benefitthe most from the facial.
Avoid applying any make up for at least 4hours after your facial. Artificial beautiful products contain a lot of chemicals which may be harmful for your skin, especially after a recent facial. Leaving the skin natural will help you keep it glowing after the facial. If you feel that your skin is getting a little oily, you can splash cold water, or simply clean it with a dry cotton pad. You may use an astringent to clear out excess sebumon your skin.
For a few days after the facial, use only water or homemade face wash for cleaning your face. Also avoid using any exfoliates and abrasive materials on your skin. Avoid using lemon juice or harsh chemicals on your face for a few days. Before you venture out in the sun, apply a good sunscreen or a sun block with a reasonably high SPF. This can prevent skin allergies and redness of the skin.
