Is it true that the Eeco car's silencers are made of platinum?


A gang has been arrested for stealing silencers of maruti Suzuki Eeco vans. For the past three weeks, the gang has been focusing on car silencers that can be easily removed.



Metal dust detected in silencers can be sold for a lot of money. The metals used in silencers are platinum, palladium, and rhodium. The maruti Suzuki Eeco's silencer costs Rs 70,000 per unit.


Vehicle exhaust catalysts, also known as catalytic converters or cat-cons, emit dust of the three metals in the exhaust gas.

Three people from different police station areas were arrested, stole 26 from Kota and Baran Silencer police station in-charge Ramswaroop meena said that the report of the theft of Eeco four wheeler's silencer on 4th February.

The thief opened the original silencer of the vehicle and the silencer of the local company was installed.


The police station busted the gang of stealing inter-state car silencers and arrested three people from different police station areas of the state on Thursday.

The accused Arif and Majid are childhood friends. Arif used to work as a labourer in delhi before the lockdown in 2020. While there, he came in contact with the gang of stealing car silencers and joined the gang. They began extracting platinum metal and selling it under the guise of cleaning the silencer.
They met the drivers of ola and uber cars there and started selling the platinum metal inside in the name of cleaning the silencer of the car. They stole silencers of hundreds of Eeco cars till february 2020, But at the same time, a gang was caught in Delhi.


Later, living in Baran, he started selling cloth by handcarting in the haat markets in the towns. They found most of the vehicles are parked outside the houses at night and it's easy to steal here.


Selling expensive, genuine silencers
They used to fill clothes in delhi number car during the day, sell clothes in villages and towns and reach the place of day's raki at night. From where they used to steal the silencer.
Around one kg of platinum comes out in a silencer of the Eeco car, which is sold for 30-32 thousand. They used to remove platinum metal from cars and put old silencers in that car. Due to this, the owner did not know about the hand.


 This happened in the incident that happened here too when the incident of 24 january came to know on 4 february when we went to get the vehicle serviced. The arrested accused also told the police that even the servicemen of the vehicles slyly extract platinum metal from the silencers.
