During the summer, the Corporation Swimming Pool, which is a popular spot for schoolchildren and the general public, is permanently closed. Boys and girls used to learn to swim in pools, ponds, and agricultural wells in the past. Nowadays, it is uncommon to find water-filled bodies of water all year long, to the point that youngsters can learn to swim. parents also refuse to allow their children to learn to swim there, despite their bad health and lack of protection. As a result, local governments and sports development departments have built swimming facilities in major cities to help schoolchildren in urban and rural areas learn to swim. Adults used to enjoy themselves at these swimming pools.

In Madurai, the Corporation Swimming Pool was near the gandhi Museum. Adults paid Rs 20 to enter the pool, while boys under the age of ten paid Rs 10. This business swimming pool was extremely beneficial to school pupils and young people who had never learnt to swim. In the summer, an increasing number of individuals went to obtain swimming lessons and come swimming for fun. The swimming pool was open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The corporation has awarded the management of this swimming pool to a private enterprise.
