In a case of allegedly cheating them of Rs 76.50 lakh to buy a job, former AIADMK minister Saroja and her husband were granted conditional bail in a Rasipuram court. Gunaseelan (65) is a retired Co-operative Society Manager from Namakkal's Rasipuram Pudupalayam area. He is the nephew of Saroja, the former AIADMK minister of Social Welfare and Nutrition. She had filed a complaint with the Rasipuram police station accusing former minister Saroja and her spouse Lokaranjan of embezzling Rs 76.50 lakh.

"Fifteen people offered me Rs 76.50 lakh to buy a job in the nutrition programme," he wrote in his complaint. minister Saroja received the money from me. He did not, however, purchase any artwork. In line with the complaint, the Namakkal district Crime Branch police have filed a case against former minister Saroja and her husband Lokaranjan under three sections. Saroja and her husband Lokaranjan had filed a petition in the chennai high court earlier this year, requesting bail in the case. The high court has directed him to appear in court at Rasipuram and apply for bail. Former minister Saroja and her spouse Lokaranjan then appeared before the Rasipuram criminal Arbitration court and surrendered.
