Seven indian soldiers were killed in a road accident in Ladakh. Seven soldiers were killed when a military vehicle crashed into the Shiok River in Ladakh. A group of 26 soldiers was moving from a transport camp in Parthapur to a forward area in the sub-division Hanif. About 25 km from Dois, the vehicle skidded and crashed into the Shiok River at a depth of about 50-60 feet. Seven soldiers were killed. The injured have been shifted to a hospital in Parthapur.



There they are being treated intensively. Meanwhile, surgical teams from Leh have rushed to Parthapur. An attempt is being made to rescue them by helicopter and admit them to the hospital. It has also been reported that the army has requested the assistance of the indian Air Force for immediate rescue and treatment of the injured.



The indian army said it was taking steps to rush the wounded and those in need of treatment to a hospital at the Western Regional Headquarters by the indian Air Force while the wounded were being treated. The remaining 19 soldiers have been airlifted to the Chandimandir army Hospital for treatment, military sources said. An investigation is underway into the crash. Full details of the crash are said to be revealed after an investigation.
