In the instance of a 16-year-old girl who was forced to sell her ovarian eggs in the Erode region of tamil Nadu, allegations of rape and torture have surfaced. In the previous five years, the girl's mother and stepfather had forced her to sell her at least eight times.

On june 6, a six-member team from tamil Nadu's department of medical and rural health services recorded the girl's statement. The team, led by joint director A Viswanathan, discovered that the girl had been compelled to sell her eggs to various reproductive clinics over the course of the previous five years. Based on the girl's account, officials are now looking into various fertility clinics across the state. Officials said that if the facilities were discovered to have been aware of the crime, their licences would be revoked, and doctors' involvement would be examined.

Since she reached puberty, the minor has been compelled to sell her eggs. Syed Ali, her stepfather, is said to have raped her multiple times in the last five years (40). According to the FIR, the girl's mother, S Indrani (33), was also involved in the crime. She was divorced from her first spouse, who is the minor's father. The minor's aadhar card was faked with the help of a middleman named 'Malathi,' who was paid Rs 5,000 in commission while the girl's mother was paid Rs 20,000 per sale.
