British prime minister Boris Johnson may resign today. However, he will address the nation before resigning. There are speculations that Johnson may also announce his resignation during his address to the nation tonight. However, a statement issued by Downing Street said that Boris Johnson will remain in the post of prime minister until a new leader is elected.



Prior to this, more than 39 ministers and parliamentary secretaries of Johnson have also left his side. Johnson's ministers resigned from their posts less than 24 hours after a rebellion by lawmakers from the ruling Conservative Party.
