Queen Elizabeth visited the sets of actor Kamal Haasan!!!


Queen Elizabeth II of britain is no longer with us. The queen ruled for almost 70 years. During this, she has also visited india 3 times. In the year 1997 has been very special for indian cinema. It is said that when the queen visited india this year, she had reached the sets of South actor Kamal Haasan's film, but even after 25 years, the film has not been released.


In 1997, when queen Elizabeth-II of britain visited india, she reached the set of South actor Kamal Haasan's film 'Marudhanayagam'. The shooting of the film started this year while the story work started in 1991 itself.

The shooting of this film started in october 1997 at mgr Film City, Chennai. On 16 october, queen Elizabeth II visited the set as the chief guest. She spent 20 minutes on the set, during which the then chief minister of tamil Nadu m. karunanidhi also joined her.


It is said that the queen was given a grand welcome on the sets of the film. Then kamal haasan showed a teaser to queen Elizabeth at the time of launch, which was a war scene which is said to be worth more than 1 crore.

Film Marudhanayagam is special for Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan was supposed to play the lead role in the film. kamal haasan was both directing and producing Marudhanayagam, while he also played the role of 18th century warrior Mohammed Yusuf Khan in the film. kamal haasan was to play the lead role with 'Titanic' actress Kate Winslet but the actress refused to do the film.

Marudhanayagam was said to be the most expensive film in the history of india at that time with a budget of Rs 80-85 crore. However, due to paucity of money, the film was stopped and till date it has been stalled.
