No more Tollgates in India...!? What instead?

It is known that toll booths are set up in many places in india and through this tolls are collected from vehicles. Political parties are raising the demand to abolish toll booths in many states including tamil Nadu. Union Road Transport minister Nitin Gadkari has said that there will be no toll booths in india in the future and automatic number plate reader cameras will be installed instead. Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari, who inaugurated the 19th India-US Economic Conference, gave a special speech. He said that vehicles will no longer have to stand in long queues said the Central Transport Department which is similar like a pilot scheme, and automatic number plate reader cameras will be installed.
He said that the people traveling in vehicles will not have to wait for a long time, if this scheme comes into force and the vehicle toll will be calculated through GPS technology and automatically taken from the bank account of the vehicle owner and due to this the traffic congestion at the toll booths will be reduced. He said that in 2018-19, on average, it took 8 minutes for vehicles to pass through a toll booth, but now after the introduction of the Fast Dock scheme, vehicles have to wait for only 45 seconds. He also informed us that some toll booths are delayed during peak hours.Therefore, a plan to install cameras on automatic number plates will be made soon as an alternative to this. Although no official decision has been taken yet on this project, he said that this new project will be introduced but in the future, there will be no toll booths in India. In this situation, Road Transport minister Nitin Gadkari said that 15,000 crores of revenue have been earned from government-owned toll booths. If the automatic number plate reader system is implemented, he also said that the income will increase.
