The idea of brotherhood, which he claims is "too precious to be lost to the cruel and greedy ploys of a few," is also at the heart of his yatra. He has been making deliberate attacks on the bjp and RSS, claiming they are fomenting division along racial lines and weakening the nation. rahul has been making an effort to drive home the points of rising unemployment and rising racial animosity since the start of the Yatra. These are the two concerns that he thinks will encourage people, particularly the young, to return to the party. According to the Congress, the yatra will be a "decisive moment" for the party's renewal and a "transformational moment" for indian politics.

The gandhi family is expecting for a miracle from the Bharat Jodo yatra, which would be a first for india in many years. The last time a politician participated in a nationwide padyatra was in 1983, when chandra shekhar, the president of the former Janata party and a non-premier, travelled more than 4,000 kilometres to protest Rahul's grandmother, the prime minister at the time, Indira Gandhi. At the conclusion of that padayatra, chandra shekhar was successful in making the transition from the Ballia area of Uttar Pradesh to the national political scene. rahul, who is 52 and serving as the Yatra's leader, was 56 at the time.

Can this yatra, however, do to his grandmother what chandra shekhar did to his? The issue is still a matter of conjecture. Currently, it might seem too unlikely for the possibility to exist. rahul has great expectations, but it is still unclear whether his efforts will inspire his team and enhance his reputation.
