Decision to Leave is a patient process that demands a steady burn, but the reward is all the more satisfying as a result. A crime/detective mystery and an erotic thriller are expertly woven together by director Park Chan-wook and Jeong Seo-kyeong in this film, which will astound spectators by the conclusion. Although the movie moves slowly and adds excessive baggage, it is nonetheless compelling and well-told. Tang Wei and Park Hae-il deliver riveting performances, and their incredible connection heightens the tension between their characters.

Detective Hae-joon (Park Hae-il) is summoned to investigate what is thought to be a possible homicide when a man dies after falling from a cliff. Hae-joon is certain that the man's widow, Seo-rae (Tang Wei), killed her husband and is the first person on the list of suspects. However, Seo-affections rae's for Hae-joon start to grow as he follows her about as she cares for her patients as a nurse, hangs out at her house, and frequently brings her in for questioning. This complicates the married Hae-investigation. joon's Seo-rae loses some of her suspicion as the two become more and more enamoured with one another.

When Decision to Leave is focused on its central characters, their desire to one another, and the lengths they will go to be close to one another, it genuinely shines. The movie explores their romance and how complicated their relationship develops. The plot doesn't explore why they are so taken with one another, but it does highlight how this is a forbidden love that only they can truly experience. Who would believe that a detective would fall for a murder suspect, after all? The film relies on the viewer's presumption of objectivity, which makes the couple's bond more mesmerising and fascinating as the story progresses.

Park's movie never achieves the necessary levels of urgency to truly electrify due to its laborious pacing and obscure storyline. Having said that, the mixture of passionate infatuation, a perplexing mystery, and a few thrills results in an exciting and satisfying plot that is full of surprises and excellent acting. Decision to Leave ultimately offers the kind of hot slow burn that totally and elegantly pays off by the conclusion, giving viewers a much to consider regarding the movie's main connection.
