Largest ever diwali celebration held at the White House!!!
US President Joe Biden organized a diwali program at the white house on Monday. His wife Jill Biden also attended the event. In a photo shared by the white house, the Biden couple is seen lighting a lamp on Diwali. US Vice President Kamala harris is seen setting off fireworks in a video retweeted by the White House.
He said that since the George Bush administration started celebrating diwali in the white house, it is the biggest celebration ever. The event, conducted in the east Room, was attended by more than 200 prominent indian Americans. The signing of the nuclear agreement in 2008 and the news conference with then-US President barack obama and then-Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh were two historical occasions that took place in the east Room and are remembered for their mark on Indo-US relations.
Some fascinating cultural programs were witnessed during the diwali celebrations, which included performances by sitarist rishabh Sharma and the dance troupe 'The Sa dance Company'. The visitors, who were dressed in traditional indian garbs like sarees, lehengas, and sherwanis, dined on indian food.
