Liz Truss had to resign after a rebellion in the ruling Conservative Party. Now the eyes of the whole country are on Rishi Sunak whether he can get britain out of this crisis or not. Rishi Sunak has blamed the Russo-Ukraine war for Britain's crisis as soon as he took power. He has said that the market is unstable because of this war. The Covid crisis is also a factor.
Rishi Sunak has said that the election promise made by the Conservative party in its manifesto in the year 2019 will be fulfilled.
What are the challenges before Rishi Sunak?
1. Reforming the National health Service
Rishi Sunak has a challenge to fix Britain's health system. There is a need to make a good policy regarding public health policy relative to privatization. There are many challenges in front of them like upgrading hospitals, construction of new hospitals, increasing the salary of nursing staff. To accomplish this in a limited budget, still remains a big challenge.
2. Comprehensive Reforms in Education
UK schools also need fundamental reform. Employees of schools and educational institutions are demanding salary hike. Now Rishi Sunak in the midst of a faltering economy, it will be a matter to be seen how much he can accomplish.
3. Handling a Deteriorating Economy
The UK economy is going through its worst phase. The big challenge for the government is to cut taxes for the working class, pension for retirees, develop better skills and remove unemployment.
4. Safe Roads
Criminal incidents have increased in the UK in recent times. There is a need for huge expenditure on the appointment of policemen on the roads, construction of jails and security arrangements. Rishi Sunak will have to make an immediate policy on this.
5. Tighter controls on immigration
Britain was the first to vote for Brexit. The Covid crisis and the Ukraine-Russia war had already jolted Britain's economy that the political crisis also started deepening. The government is already apprehensive about the economy. A large number of illegal migrant laborers from different countries live in Britain. In such a situation, Rishi Sunak needs to adopt strict rules on immigration too.
