According to Gopang, who was quoted by the news agency PTI, "I was surprised because let alone having seen that much money, I have never had more than a few thousand rupees in my account." According to the police officer, he didn't learn about his inheritance until he received a call from the bank informing him that Rs 100 million had been transferred into his account.
Before he could take action, the bank barred Gopang's ATM card and frozen his account to stop him from making cash withdrawals. An investigation has been opened to determine how and from where the enormous cash came to be in the account of the Karachi police officer. Other police officers in similar situations in Pakistan's Larkana and Sukkur also got sizable quantities of money in their bank accounts, according to PTI. Three police officers in Larkana discovered they each had 50 million rupees in their accounts, while a police officer in Sukkur also had the same amount there.
