By July 2023, the
telugu desam party would have just four seats left in the
andhra pradesh state legislative council, down from its previous strength of 32 before it was ousted by the

congress party in 2019. In the upcoming elections, the party, which currently has 16 MLCs in the state legislative council, is expected to lose 12 seats to the
congress PARTY' target='_blank' title='ysr congress-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>ysr
congress party, which is in power. In the coming months, a number of well-known politicians, including
tdp general secretary Nara Lokesh, Bachula Arjunudu, Manthena Satyanarayana Raju, Chikkala Ramachandra Rao, B Tech Ravi, K E Prabhakar, Angara Rammohan, and G
deepak Reddy, would step down from their positions.
Only four MLCs from the
tdp will remain in the legislative council until 2025, and they are Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, P
ashok Babu, D Rama Rao, and
v Tirumal Naidu. In contrast, the YSRCP, which currently has 32 MLCs in the 58-member state legislative council, will gain an additional 17 MLCs in the upcoming elections, bringing its total to 49.
Due to the terms of the incumbent members expiring this year, up to 23 seats in the upper
house under various categories will become vacant in three phases and be filled by new members.
