Director james Gunn says that Gamora was supposed to die in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and not in Avengers: Infinity War. In the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Zoe Saldana makes her acting debut as Thanos' favorite adopted daughter. With her fellow cosmic heroes, she will soon embark on what may be her last mission in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Saldana could have only performed as Gamora twice, though, had things gone differently. Gunn discloses his strategy for killing Mara in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in a recent interview with ComicBook. The plot of Avengers: Infinity war would have been dramatically altered as a result of this. Joe and Anthony Russo.

Gunn said, "As a result, nothing is ever certain. But in "Vol. 2," Gamora came dangerously close to passing away. I was aware from the start that Zoe only intended to portray the role for a finite period of time, and she has been very forthright in stating that she is finished [after 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3']. I, therefore, intended to have her pass away."

Despite being five years old in 2023, Avengers: Infinity war is still regarded as one of the MCU's most significant tales. It's tough to conceive how the movie would have turned out without the chemistry between Thanos and Gamora. Her involvement not only served as a major catalyst for the story's central conflict but also served to ground the Titan. He became more than a one-dimensional, merciless villain as a result of becoming humanized.
