The overpriced food items at the coimbatore airport have caused dissatisfaction among passengers. From coimbatore Beelamedu airport, flight services are provided to various domestic cities and foreign destinations including sharjah and Singapore. More than 25 flights are operated daily.

For the convenience of passengers, there are restaurants and food stalls operating at various locations in the airport premises. Travelers have demanded that food items in such restaurants are expensive and steps should be taken to reduce them. Some of the passengers said that: Many people are traveling in flights for various essential tasks including business, medicine and education. Earlier, only the rich used to travel by air, but now middle class people are also traveling by air in large numbers.

The restaurants operating in the airport premises sell two idlis and one vada for Rs.200. A sambar idli is priced at Rs.90, a set of idli only at Rs.120, paratha kuruma at Rs.200, chapati at Rs.200 and onion roast at Rs.220. The stalls set up outside the premises sell one dosa at Rs.150, masala dosa at Rs.170, idli, vadai at Rs.140, mini sambar idli at Rs.150, pongal at Rs.140, puri masala at Rs.150 and vadai (two) at Rs.90. are sold.

If you want to travel by 8 am flight, you have to leave at 5 am and enter the airport one hour before. Many people think that they can eat at the airport when they have to leave in a hurry. While travelers are affected by high prices in indoor restaurants, friends and relatives passing through have to face the same problem in outdoor restaurants. It is not acceptable to sell food items at high prices.

Coimbatore airport is an airport operating in secondary cities. Therefore, considering the number of flights and passengers operating here daily, the airport management should take steps to sell food products at reasonable prices. This is what the passengers said.

When asked about this from the director of the airport, Senthilvalavan, he said, "Food products are sold at a low price in coimbatore airport as compared to other airports including chennai and Bengaluru. Information about this will be given soon along with statistics," he said.
