DMK's hunger strike: Anti-NEET Protest...
DMK President and tamil Nadu chief minister M K stalin assured the state on sunday that all efforts would be made to secure NEET exclusion for the state, as his son and cabinet minister Udhayanidhi led the party's state-wide strike of hunger demanding the test's abolition. According to stalin, the DMK won't give up until tamil Nadu is exempt from taking the central qualifying exam. In contrast, the opposition bjp criticised the state's ruling party for "politicising" NEET.
The CM's comments at the wedding came at the same time as his party's protests against the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET). stalin also made fun of governor R N ravi of tamil Nadu, who recently declared that he would never support the state's anti-NEET legislation. The cm stated that now that the matter is with the President, the Governor's role is merely that of a "postman," who must forward matters taken up by the state assembly to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
With the exception of Madurai, where the AIADMK is holding a sizable state conference today, the ruling party's hunger strike was observed throughout the state. On august 23, there will be a NEET strike in temple City. Senior members of the party, including cabinet ministers Duraimurugan, Ma Subramanian, and P K Sekar Babu, as well as MPs from the party, including Dayanidhi Maran, MLAs, and chennai Mayor priya R, joined DMK youth wing leader Udhayanidhi at the protest site in Valluvar Kottam. A collage of medical aspirants who committed suicide due to NEET, including S Anita of Ariyalur, was on display on stage, and floral tributes were given in their honour. The strike was being led on sunday by the DMK's youth Wing, students Wing, and Doctors Wing.
This conflict will go on, and the DMK won't give up until NEET exemption is guaranteed. This movement serves the interests of the people whether or not it is in power, the cm continued. State minister Duraimurugan stated NEET is detrimental to student welfare and that the DMK has long opposed it while speaking at the protest site.
