'Nipah virus mortality rate is much higher than Covid-19'...

Rajeev Bahl, director general of the indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), stated on friday that compared to the Covid-19 pandemic, the mortality rate among those infected with the Nipah virus is significantly higher. Speaking at a press conference, Bahl said Nipah had a mortality rate of 40–70% while Covid had a mortality rate of two–three percent.

The ICMR DG declared that they are doing everything possible to stop the deadly virus from spreading throughout the southern state, adding, "We do not know why the cases keep appearing. In 2018, we discovered that bats were a factor in the kerala outbreak. We do not know how the illness spread from bats to people. The connection could not be made. This time, we are trying to learn once more. Always during the rainy season does it occur.

Australia will supply doses of monoclonal antibodies to India. In order to treat an infection with the Nipah virus, india will purchase 20 more doses of monoclonal antibody from Australia, according to the ICMR DG. In 2018, we received a few doses of monoclonal antibodies from Australia. Only 10 patients can currently receive the doses, he said.
