Following the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict last week, the terrorist group Hamas on monday made public the first video of an Israeli hostage held in the Gaza Strip, according to the Jerusalem Post. In the footage posted by Hamas on Telegram on monday, the hostage—who has a fractured hand—is shown getting medical attention. The 21-year-old inmate speaks into the camera to reassure viewers that she is receiving proper treatment. Shoham resident Mia Shem claims she was seriously injured and has been getting medical attention.

“Hi, I'm Mia Shem, 21 years old from Shoham. Currently, I'm in Gaza. I returned early saturday morning from Sderot; I was at a party. I was seriously injured in my hand. I underwent surgery on my hand at the hospital [in Gaza] for 3 hours. They are taking care of me, giving me medicine, everything is fine. I only ask to bring me home to my parents and go home as soon as possible. Get me out of here as soon as possible. Please,” the Jerusalem Post quoted her as saying in her native language.

On the first day of the Al-Aqsa water fight, which sparked the current Israel-Hamas conflict, she was taken prisoner.
