AR Rahmancomposed the music for the film. In this film, AR rahman recreated the song written by Kazi Nasrul Islam, a freedom poet from West Bengal, according to this period. It is the song that is currently embroiled in controversy. Nazrul's family has also alleged that he did not recreate the song properly. Nazrul's grandson Anirban said that Abbadal, written by his grandfather in 1922 when he was in jail, was turned into a song in 1949, and they gave away the rights to AR Rahman, believing that he would recreate the song well. But he did not justify it. Anirban has accused AR rahman of spoiling its feel and music.Nazrul's granddaughter Anindita has insisted that the song featured in Pippa, composed by AR Rahman, should be removed. As the issue flared up, Pippa's team issued a statement apologizing to Nazrul's family. It is noteworthy that AR rahman has not yet given any explanation regarding this controversy.
