Reduce travel time and travel in total luxury from hyderabad to any district headquarters or significant town in telangana in around sixty minutes. The essence of the plan proposed by BRS working president KT Rama Rao at a CREDAI conference on friday was a network of transit services that could connect the capital city with other regions of the State, have trains that operate quicker and drastically reduce travel time.

Telangana Rapid Transit (TRT) is a semi-high speed 'At Grade' rail system with a maximum speed of 180 kmph and an average speed of 100 kmph proposed by the BRS administration led by chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. This will ensure that most telangana district headquarters and key towns can be visited in approximately an hour.

When this type of service becomes available, karimnagar will be accessible from hyderabad in about 1.25 hours, as opposed to the current road journey time of 3.30 hours. Along with the present 69 km of three Metro corridors and the airport Metro Corridor of 31 km, Metro rail extension to other sections of hyderabad and along the ORR has been sanctioned for a total coverage of 415 km at an estimated cost of Rs.69,000 crore.

Nine TRT Corridors are planned from the new Metro nodal locations on the ORR / fringes to reach nearly the whole state. TRT Corridors will be built on road-level rail lines but will use superior RRTS technology. These corridors, which are estimated to cost between Rs.70 crore and Rs.75 crore per km, may span a length of around 792 km with a budget of approximately Rs.55,400 crore. The distances might be lowered more during the comprehensive assessment because they are suggested over broad fields while linking significant towns, road intersections, and existing railway stations.
