Earlier this year, Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' lit the box office on fire, hitting the Rs 100 crore mark in advance gross receipts globally for its opening weekend, the biggest this year. While Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan had strong opening weekends, grossing over 70 and 80 crores, respectively, they fell short of Leo's record-breaking advance reservations. Looking back in time, only a few films, like Baahubali 2, kgf 2, and RRR, have surpassed the coveted 100-crore milestone in advance reservations.

Baahubali 2 in particular was a cinematic success, and its 100 crores in advance reservations in 2017 would be equivalent to a startling 150 crores in 2023, when Average Ticket Prices climb. The discussion in trade circles and among fans now revolves around which film will be the next to surpass the 100-crore mark in advance reservations. Animal, directed by Sandeep reddy Vanga, has had a spectacular start in advance reservations, but reaching 100 crores appears out of reach. It can aim for a maximum of 50-60 crores.

Prabhas' Salaar is the only film that has the potential to break the 100-crore mark this year. The anticipation is palpable, and if the teaser is as fantastic as Animal, breaking 100 crores in advance will be a piece of cake. Salaar's trailer will be released on december 1, 2023, and the film will be released in theatres on december 22, 2023.
