The madras court, which has volunteered the property case against minister Ponmudi and his wife, Visalakshi, declared the two as accused. Judge Jayachandran said that the details of their sentence will be announced at 10.30 am on the 21st of this month as the allegation has been proven in the case of Rs 1.75 crore. minister Ponmudi and his wife Visalakshi are also present in person. If minister Ponmudi is sentenced to jail, he will be sacked and his department will be given to a different minister or new minister. At the same time, he is likely to tackle the supreme Court. Therefore, the verdict of the case has created great expectations in the political circles of tamil Nadu.

Details of the case:
When the DMK was in power from 2006 to 2011, minister Ponmudi and his wife, Visalakshi, were sued during the 2011 AIADMK regime for allegedly adding more than income. Villupuram district Corruption Department Superintendent of police Kanniyappan was investigating the case. More than a hundred people were investigated and the indictment was filed. It was reported that minister Ponmudi and his wife Visalakshi had amassed more than Rs 1.75 crore. First of all, the trial of the case has been held in the Villupuram Chief criminal court and later in the Villupuram Bribery Anti-Corruption Special Court. After the DMK regime took over, the case was transferred to the Vellore district Primary Session court in november 2022.
High court intervention:
After several stages of the investigation, all the arguments were completed and the date of the judgment was postponed. On the day of the verdict, minister Ponmudi and his wife appeared in person. It was ordered to release the two due to inadequate evidence. chennai high court Judge anand venkatesh came forward to hear the case against Ponmudi on september 30, as he did not appeal on behalf of the Corruption Department against the verdict last June. His request was rejected to go to the supreme court against this. It is in this context that minister Ponmudi is declared guilty in the property case. Subsequently, the national flag in his car has already been removed.
