Reportedly veteran tamil actor Vijayakanth, affectionately known as Captain Vijayakanth, passed away on december 28, after a prolonged illness. Miot Hospital officials, where Vijayakanth was undergoing treatment for pneumonia, confirmed his demise early this morning. The news has left fans, industry colleagues, and contemporaries mourning, with an outpouring of condolences to the late actor’s family. Meanwhile among those grieving, Vijay shared a special bond with Vijayakanth. Their connection was exemplified when Vijayakanth acted in a film alongside the budding Vijay without accepting any remuneration.

Furthermore Vijay started his acting career as a child artist in the 1984 film Vetri, which starred Vijayakanth. The film marked Vijay’s debut, and he received his first paycheck of Rs 500 for his role. Their collaboration continued with other films like Kudumbam, Vasantha Ragam, and Sattam Oru Vilaiyattu, solidifying a bond between the seasoned actor and the young talent.

Vijay later transitioned to lead roles, making his debut in the 1992 film Naalaiya Theerpu, which turned out to be a success.
