Mahesh Babu returns to the big screen with guntur Kaaram, which opens on the 12th of this month. The film is receiving good buzz, but the atmosphere does not quite reflect the excitement that is anticipated of a Mahesh-Trivikram picture released during the Sankranthi season. In 2020, Mahesh's sarileru neekevvaru clashed with Allu Arjun's Ala Vaikunthapurramulo, and both films capitalised on the box office clash to generate significant pre-release buzz. This conflict focused the public's attention on both films as they compared their songs, posters, and, eventually, box office performance.

A similar situation occurred in 2023 between Veera simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya. chiru and Balayya's confrontation sparked widespread interest in both films. However, guntur Kaaram will not have any competition this Sankranthi because it is the only telugu superstar film to be released. Other releases, such as Saindhav, Naa Saami Ranga, and Hanuman, do not 'clash' with Mahesh's film. Typically, at least two, if not three, major films compete at the box office during Sankranthi. This comparative aspect alone is enough to bring the flicks to the public's attention. However, this is not the case with guntur Kaaram during Sankranthi, as can be readily observed.

Perhaps Mahesh's guntur Kaaram required an Allu Arjun, like in the case of AVPL, or any other big hero for that matter, to compete at the box office during Sankranthi, which would have increased GK's hype. Nonetheless, Mahesh and Trivikram's brand values should be sufficient to generate significant money throughout the festival season. guntur Kaaram may gain even more from the lack of a direct fight because it will be the preferred option. This might be one of the advantages of not having direct competitors.
