According to a post-mortem investigation, former model divya Pahuja was shot at point blank range, with a bullet retrieved from her skull. Four physicians, including two women, conducted the post-mortem at the Agroha Medical college in Hisar, Haryana, under the guidance of Dr Mohan Singh. Following the post-mortem, the body was turned over to Pahuja's family. Pahuja's body has been transferred to Gurugram for the funeral rites.

On january 2, Pahuja, a 27-year-old former model, was reportedly killed in Gurugram by Abhijeet Singh (56), the proprietor of City Point Hotel where the incident occurred. Her body was discovered in a canal in Tohana, Haryana's Fatehabad district, on Saturday, eleven days after the murder. According to the authorities, Singh said that Pahuja was blackmailing him with sexual films, which led to his suspected participation in her death. The police stated that they were checking Singh's statements and that more investigations were underway.

So far, the police have detained five persons in connection with the murder: Singh, Hemraj, Om Prakash, Megha Phogat, who reportedly helped hide the murder weapon and Pahuja's possessions, and Balraj Gill, who allegedly disposed of the corpse. One suspect, ravi Banga, who assisted in transferring the corpse in a bmw automobile, is presently on the run.

Pahuja was imprisoned for more than seven years for orchestrating a "fake encounter" of her fellow criminal Sandeep Gandoli in mumbai with Gurugram police and rival gang boss virendra kumar alias Binder Gujjar on february 6, 2016. Gujjar was in prison at the time of Gandoli's murder, but he devised the scheme with his brother Manoj and recruited the former model.
