Mahesh Babu recently discussed the smoking portions in his latest film, guntur Kaaram. mahesh babu claimed to Haarika and Hassine Creations, the film's producers, that he originally experienced migraines after smoking beedi for the film. He said that he later replaced them with 'ayurvedic beedi' and underlined that he is not pushing others to smoke.

Mahesh Babu stated that he does not smoke and would not encourage others to do so. It was an ayurvedic beedi prepared from clove leaves. Initially, they gave me a genuine beedi, and I had a migraine. I went and told trivikram [Srinivas], and he was considering what to do. Then he investigated and brought me some ayurvedic beedi, which I liked. It was produced from clove leaves and had a minty flavour. There was no tobacco in there."
