Rohan Bopanna, a legendary indian tennis player, was awarded the new No. 1 in men's doubles after reaching the Australian Open 2024 semifinals. This is Bopanna's career-high rating, surpassing his previous best of world No. 3, set in 2013.

When questioned about his achievement of reaching the tournament's semi-finals, the indian tennis maestro stated that it was a memorable occasion for him. Bopanna hailed his staff, especially his teammate Matthew Ebden, for their accomplishment. In an emotional on-court interview, Bopanna revealed that his career had many highs and lows. In addition, Bopanna became the oldest male tennis player in history to reach the world number one position.

"I'd want to thank my team members who are here; they've obviously gone through some difficult times. The career peak occurred in 2013, and you know you have to keep climbing, what can you say? Never hold back, so many thanks to everyone. Most importantly, I would want to thank my partner Matt, with whom I will achieve this rating. So, very wonderful, and you know it'll always be a beautiful memory here," Boappana said during the on-court interview.

Mahesh Bhupati, a former indian tennis player and one of the most well-known figures in indian men's tennis history, congratulated Bopanna on his victory. Bhupati rushed to twitter to say that Bopanna's top ranking at the age of 43 was one of the most significant tales in indian sports history.
