Bihar chief minister nitish kumar is expected to retire on saturday, along with numerous congress MLAs, sources said india Today tv, amid the state's political upheaval. There is widespread speculation that nitish kumar may leave the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) government, which includes Lalu Yadav's RJD, and rejoin the BJP-led NDA.

Earlier, sources told india Today tv that nitish kumar might take oath as chief minister of the JD(U)-BJP combination on Sunday, with bjp leader sushil kumar modi returning as his deputy. sushil modi, a bjp veteran, commented on the bihar political scene on Friday, saying that "doors that are closed can open" and that politics is "a game of possibilities." He, however, declined to go into depth about the situation.

Ties between the JD(U) and the RJD, which had been tense for some time, hit a new high on january 25 when Lalu Yadav's daughter rohini Acharya went to X to criticise nitish kumar for his 'dynasty politics' statement. She has already removed the mysterious tweets.

Meanwhile, the bihar BJP's extended working committee and the RJD have scheduled meetings for 4 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, on saturday in Patna. The RJD gathering will be held at bihar Deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav's official house.

All bjp MPs and MLAs have been requested to join today's huddle, which will also include the party's national general secretary and bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde.

Nitish Kumar's likely return to the BJP-led nda will be a setback for the Opposition-led india coalition, since he is a crucial member. In an exclusive interview with india Today tv on Friday, Samajwadi party (SP) supremo akhilesh yadav stated that if nitish kumar had stuck with the india bloc, the JD(U) head might have been Prime Minister.

Unsuccessful seat-sharing discussions have sparked a schism in the india group, with the trinamool congress (TMC) supremo and West bengal chief minister recently stating that her party will run alone in the lok sabha elections in the state. She mentioned the failure of the seat-sharing negotiations as the cause.

Even the aam aadmi party (AAP) has ruled out forming an alliance with the congress in Punjab, with chief minister Bhagwant Mann claiming that his party will win all 13 lok sabha seats in the state.

According to reports, nitish kumar is also furious with the india group over failed seat-sharing discussions.

Akhilesh Yadav also accused congress of "missing enthusiasm" and "coming forward" insufficiently to keep the india bloc members satisfied.
