Ilayaraja's family has performed the last rites for Bhavatharini by singing the song 'Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu'. Bhavatharini, the only daughter of popular music composer Ilayaraja, has been undergoing treatment for cancer for the past five months. As the cancer has spread from her liver to her lungs, it is said that the doctors who spread their hands saying that cancer is in the fourth stage, it is said that because Bhawatharini is very thin, they did not even offer to do treatments like chemotherapy.
Following this, her family took her to sri lanka for natural treatment. Bhawatharini died on january 25th at 5:00 pm while undergoing natural medicine in Sri Lanka. Her death shocked the entire film industry and fans. Following this, last evening Bhavatarini's body was brought from sri lanka to chennai by air. From there by ambulance was taken to Ilayaraja's house in the city. After a few hours, Bhavatharini's body was kept for the public and celebrities to pay their respects, after Ilayaraja's family decided to bury Bhavatharani's body in her native village, Pannaiyapuram, Theni district.
  After this, the body of Bhavatharini was taken to Pannapuram. Bhavadharini's family completed her funeral by singing the national award song 'Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu...Quyil Pola Paatu Onnu' which she sang in the movie 'Bharathi'. The video of this has now been released and has caused a stir.
