D sudarshan Reddy, MD of the hyderabad Water Board (HMWS&SB), which manages the ORR phase-2 project, has asked authorities to expedite the completion of reservoirs in the last stages of development for the ORR phase-2 project. The objective is to get them fully working by this summer.

On Friday, reddy conducted an inspection of numerous reservoirs in the Rajendranagar constituency under ORR project-2, package-2, including Kismatpur, Manchirevula, Bhairagi Guda, Gandham Guda, Brindavan Colony, Errakunta Abhyudaya Nagar, and Gandipet.

The inspection included a detailed study of the reservoirs' intake and exit locations, as well as an evaluation of distribution lines and places intended to benefit from the new reservoirs. reddy underlined the importance of expediting the remaining distribution lines and other outstanding projects to achieve 100 percent water delivery this summer. He directed authorities to post signboards with reservoir information evenly throughout all newly developed locations. He also advocated for slogans on reservoirs to promote water conservation and waste prevention.

Later, reddy went to the Osmansagar reservoir to inspect its gates and get information on water levels from authorities. At the reservoir sub-division office, he scanned the logbook, which had a century's worth of water level data since the reservoir's completion and was surprised by its historical importance. During the inspection, the water board MD was joined by technical/project director 2 Ravikumar, CGM tv Sridhar, other authorities, and construction company representatives.

The ORR phase-2 project, which operates inside the ghmc borders, intends to supply adequate drinking water to places outside the Outer Ring Road. The ongoing phase-2 works cost Rs 1200 crores and comprise 73 additional service reservoirs with a combined capacity of 138 million liters as well as a 2,988-kilometer pipeline network. The initiative seeks to assist a population of 25 lakh people and about 3.6 lakh families from municipal corporations, municipalities, and gram panchayats.

Package-2, which comprises Rajendranagar, sameer Pate, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Patan Cheru, Arsipuram, and Bollaram, is under development at a cost of Rs 587 crores, with 38 new service reservoirs and 1,270 km of pipeline network. The initiative is expected to benefit around 1.96 lakhs in total.

Almost all 38 reservoirs are nearing construction, with 14 being commissioned and functioning. 1,044 kilometres of the 1,270-kilometer pipeline network have been constructed successfully.
