A controversy has been sparked by the foundation stone that telangana chief minister Revanth reddy lay for the placement of a monument of former prime minister rajiv gandhi in front of the State Secretariat. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the main opposition, has called on the government to rescind the decision, claiming that the site was set aside for the installation of a monument of Telangana's "Talli" (mother).

Leaders of the BRS objected to the monument of rajiv gandhi being erected, arguing that telangana Talli represents the state's cultural character and that the previous prime minister had no particular significance. leader of the BRS K kavitha expressed her worries over the planned monument in front of the secretariat on Thursday.

The BRS MLC expressed her strong commitment to upholding Telangana's cultural identity in a letter to the chairman of the telangana Legislative Council. She said the decision to erect a telangana Talli monument at the secretariat, part of the previous government's plans to celebrate our state's rich cultural legacy and instill a sense of pride in our telangana history, was widely supported.

The current government's alteration of this plan has alarmed Kavitha, the daughter of former telangana chief minister and BRS President K chandrasekhar Rao. They have chosen to lay the foundation stone for a statue of rajiv gandhi in place of the telangana Talli monument.

Even while she acknowledges Rajiv Gandhi's national accomplishments, she claimed it is not the proper choice to place his statue in front of the telangana Talli. "It disregards our cultural identity and goes against the desires of the telangana people. We place great importance on the telangana Talli statue. It serves as a symbol of our distinct cultural identity and serves to remind us of the challenges and goals faced by our forefathers. No matter how significant, replacing it with a statue of a national icon would take away Telangana's unique identity, the speaker continued.

Kavitha implored the state administration to reevaluate the choice and give the telangana Talli monument in front of the telangana secretariat priority. She continued, saying that by doing this, they would respect the identities and feelings of the people they serve as well as our state's rich cultural heritage.

The foundation stone for the rajiv gandhi statue in front of the secretariat was laid on wednesday by chief minister Revanth Reddy. "I took this action because there isn't a statue honoring the late rajiv gandhi," he stated. He recounted how the late prime minister transformed the telecommunications industry.

He went on, "Rajiv gandhi gave his life for the integrity of the country. The statue would inspire political leaders to follow his ideology of serving the people." His figure is useful for more than simply birthday and anniversary garlands. The chief minister declared that all political leaders ought to emulate him and take inspiration from his ideas.

Sonia gandhi, the leader of the AICC, would be invited to unveil the monument, the chief minister said. He said that there are already sculptures of well-known people in the area of the Tank Bund, including B. R. Ambedkar, Indira gandhi, P.V. narasimha Rao, and Jaipal Reddy.
