State bank of india (SBI), the largest bank in the country, is introducing self-service facilities for customers to enroll in Pradhan Mantri jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). customers will no longer need to visit a bank branch or customer service center to join these schemes.
SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara announced the launch of self-service enrollment, allowing customers to conveniently join PMJJBY and PMSBY without visiting a physical branch. To enroll, customers need to enter their account number and date of birth on the Jan Suraksha Portal, select the bank, and make the premium payment. Once the premium is paid, the insurance certificate will be generated instantly.
Emphasizing the use of technology to enhance customer facilities, Dinesh Khara stated that sbi aims to leverage technology extensively for customer convenience. This initiative aligns with the government of India's campaign to extend coverage to all citizens under PMJJBY and PMSBY.

Pradhan Mantri jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) provides life insurance coverage to indian citizens aged 18 to 50 years with a premium of Rs 330 per year. In the event of the policyholder's death due to any cause, the nominee receives an insurance claim of up to Rs 2 lakh.

Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) is an accident insurance scheme introduced in 2015. It offers accidental insurance cover with an annual premium of Rs 20. In case of accidental death or total disability, the insured receives a cover of Rs 2 lakh. Partial disability results in a cover of Rs 1 lakh.
