Four days have passed since the bharatiya janata party allied with the Jana Sena Party, headed by actor Pawan Kalyan, and the telugu Desam Party, led by former chief minister of andhra pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu. Both the coalition and the seat-sharing mechanism have been made official. Except for a few prominent figures, the majority of bjp leaders in andhra pradesh have refrained from commenting on the agreement with the tdp or offering remarks endorsing it.

Except for a few posts from officials like Daggubati Purandeshwari and satya Kumar, there hasn't been a state-level statement akin to the one released by the bjp national leaders and Naidu.

With a few exceptions, sources suggest that most bjp leaders in andhra pradesh are not keen on collaborating with the tdp and giving up a few assembly seats.

Before the agreement, during talks with bjp national secretary shiva Kumar, they voiced the opinion that it would be best to avoid going with the TDP.

They informed the central leadership that the BJP's expansion would be impeded if the tdp were to take power.

They drew attention to the fact that the bjp received a larger percentage of votes in the 1998 legislative elections when it ran a solo campaign in andhra pradesh, winning both rajahmundry and kakinada Lok Sabha seats. Following the formation of an alliance with the tdp, the vote share decreased.

BJP officials also warned the central leaders that some of the people promoting mp tickets had ties to the tdp in the past. They will thus put Naidu's interests ahead of the BJP's and are effectively tdp candidates.

According to insiders, there is concern that tdp defectors might win a sizable number of seats in the assembly elections.
