To accommodate the increasing demands of train passengers in the northeastern part of the city, Cherlapally railway station is undergoing significant renovation. The Union Ministry of Railways is providing the funding for the South Central Railway to transform it into a terminal railway station, for Rs. 430 crores.

A brand-new station structure with a contemporary exterior is being built. There are six booking counters, gender-specific waiting areas, an executive lounge on the main level, and an upper-class waiting space. A senior SCR official stated that a restaurant, cafeteria, and restrooms will be located on the first level.

Four more high-level platforms will be added to the renovated station, and the five already in place have been expanded to allow for full-length trains.

To aid passengers, two foot-over bridges (FoB) were built, one measuring 12 meters in width and the other 6 meters. To make passenger mobility easier, escalators and lifts would be installed on all nine stations.

The South Central Railway (SCR) stated this in a status update report that was made public here on Saturday. It said that because commuters from the eastern part of the city were facing difficulties, the railway authorities had chosen Cherlapalli, which is not only conveniently located near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) but also strategically located on Hyderabad's eastern side, where development is accelerating.
