After music celebrating holi was played outside a mosque on sunday night, a little dispute escalated into a large-scale protest by Hindu organizations in Chengicherla on monday morning. Fifty kilometers outside the city, in Chengicherla hamlet in Ghatkesar Mandal, tensions were high when the police had to step in and use lathi-charging on demonstrators.

Hindu organizations staged a demonstration on monday in response to the reported attack on residents who were enjoying holi in Hyderabad's Chengicherla late on march 24. After a group celebrating holi allegedly sang songs outside a mosque during prayers, arguments broke out. Approximately two hundred members of Hindu groups arrived in Chengicherla on monday to march in the direction of the scene of Sunday's violence. The issue was sorted out by the Medipally police last night itself. However, on coming to know about the incident, Hindu groups came to village to protest.

To keep them from coming there, the police had blocked the road and once used a lathi charge. Protesters held signs and attempted to advance, but the police, including female officers, were stationed in the village to stop them. The Medipally police resolved the matter last night themselves. Nonetheless, Hindu organizations visited the area in protest after learning about the tragedy.
