A delhi court has requested a statement from the tihar jail authorities about a plea filed by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC, K. Kavitha. She claims that, in violation of prior orders, she was not given access to a mattress, home-cooked meals, medications, or jewelry, among other things.

Kavitha, the daughter of BRS President and former telangana chief minister K. chandrasekhar Rao, was placed in judicial custody on Tuesday, april 9, following the expiration of her Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody about the delhi excise policy case, by Special Judge Kaweri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court.

Kavitha was allowed to eat home-cooked food by the court last week, and on Tuesday, the Jail Superintendent was instructed to grant her permission to keep books, pen and paper, medications, clothing, slippers, a mattress, bed linens, and jewelry.

Kavitha has stated that having beds and home-cooked meals are essential for her wellbeing. She said that not even her eyeglasses and prayer beads were given to her or permitted to be brought to the jail.

The application stated that "none of the articles as directed by the court were provided or allowed to be carried by the applicant (Kavitha) in total defiance of the order dated march 26."

The court will now hear the case on saturday after requesting a response from the jail administration.

While requesting her judicial detention, the ED stated that it is still looking into Kavitha's involvement in the case, finding further proceeds of crime (PoC), and locating other people who may be connected to or involved in the PoC process.

On march 15, the ED had searched Kavitha's hyderabad home and taken her into custody.
